Fiat is now selling the second-generation version of its Doblo people-carrier. The all-new car retains the boxy practicality of its predecessor but combines this with greatly improved levels of comfort and refinement. Fiat's Brazil subsidiary says it will hire 1,000 new workers in the next three months to ramp up production. Fiat says in an e-mailed statement it wants to increase daily production by about 6.5 percent at a plant in the state of Minas Gerais. The new workers at the Betim plant mean the Brazilian subsidiary of Fiat SpA will produce about 190 more cars per day.  

Chrysler Group LLC announced today that its all-new Trenton (Mich.) South Engine Plant has been awarded a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Green Building System certification for meeting the highest environmental standards. In fact, Trenton is one of only four auto manufacturing facilities to receive a LEED rating of any kind and the only engine manufacturing facility in the world to achieve the honor. Ateco is the importer of vehicles from Citroen, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, the Chinese brands Great Wall and Chery, as well as luxury Italian marques Ferrari and Maserati.
